Who can apply for a workshop place? The weekend workshop is open to all undergraduate and postgraduate students. Students from any subject background can apply. The focus of the weekend workshop is on new ideas and solving challenges.

Call for proposals: youth climate anxiety artwork for COP 26 – application deadline is 19th October!!

Who we are: Avaaz is a global campaigning organization with 69 million members around the world working passionately to solve the biggest challenges of our time. From defending human rights and protecting democracies from disinformation, to standing up for indigenous rights, ensuring biodiversity protected areas and pushing governments for urgent climate action.

What we are looking for: A large-scale art installation/performance to be displayed during the COP 26 to help frame the media narrative and put pressure on government leaders. We want the artwork to explore youth climate anxiety, using as inspiration the campaign and study Avaaz helped launch last month. The artwork/performance can be existing or repurposed.

Where will the artwork be located: The art installation/performance will ideally be displayed in the surroundings of the COP 26 venue- the Scottish Event Campus (SEC) in Glasgow. The final location will depend on the nature of theartwork chosen. It needs to be both weatherproof and non-permanent.

The brief:

Completion date of work: The artwork needs to be installed/displayed between Sunday 31 October – Friday 12 November

1) a written statement (500 words max) saying why the artist(s) want to be considered for this commission and their ideas for the installation/performance, including potential materials

2) 6 photos of existing work

Application deadline:  Tuesday October 19 2021, by midnight

Selected artwork to be announced:  Friday 22 October, 2021
