What does it take to get a job in TV?

Talent Managers are seeking a range of skills and attributes from potential candidates such as the ability to; multi task, be collaborative, work under pressure, have excellent people skills and ability to listen, resourceful with research skills, as well as good work experience.

Trends in media / TV hiring also suggests that candidates who are able to deliver pre and post production, self-shoot, edit to a high level and are comfortable with new technology and social media will be in high demand.

Top Tips to get into TV

Get as much work experience as possible.  Find out more about the work experience on offer at the BBC: http://www.bbc.co.uk/careers/work-experience

Be open to opportunities and prepared to work hard. Your reputation, positive outlook and ability to network are just as valuable as your relevant TV/Media skills and experience.

Pay attention to the production outputs of the company you are approaching. What programmes do they make?  What are your favourite programmes- who directs them, where is the production location for these programmes?  What tone is used for these programmes? What are the differences between channels? Etc.  Make sure that you undertake careful research into the company and its programmes, before applying to them.  as they will expect you to know what they make.

Keep an eye on trends and developments within the TV media sector. Understand what experience, training and skills will give you a competitive edge in the recruitment process.

Luxury babywear brand The Little Art Collection is looking for British-based artists to collaborate with on textile designs for their new Summer 2018 collection. You do not need to be a textile designer to respond to this ad. We’re looking for artists who can create unique and interesting work for us to digitalise and drop into repeat.

Successful artists will be awarded;

  • A copyright fee of £100 per artwork licensed*
  • A short artist bio enclosed with their finished products
  • A short artist bio online next to their product listing
  • Artist credits on promotional, PR and social activity surrounding their designs
