St Aloysius’ College Art Department – Glasgow School of Art linked project

Part-time Artist/Designer/Photographer in Residence – Autumn Term 2018

St Aloysius’ College Art Department is setting up a project with Glasgow School of Art to offer a current or recently graduated artist, designer or architect the opportunity to work within the school to showcase good practice in an area of the arts.

The successful candidate will work within the Art Department where they will have the opportunity to work on a collaborative project with staff and either 1st, 3rd or 5th year pupils. There would be opportunities to demonstrate techniques and give talks to groups of pupils, as well as leading a project with pupils. A work space will be made available within the department and there will be a small allowance for materials.

To conclude the residency, the work created by both the successful candidate and St Aloysius’ College pupils will be displayed at the annual Art Exhibition and Fashion Show.

The residency will be from September until November 2018.  The successful candidate is likely to spend one day per week or two half days, to be agreed. The total fee for the residency would be £1200 plus up to £400 for materials.

To apply, please send a full curriculum vitae with details of two referees, up to 9 examples of your recent work and a brief statement outlining a potential pupil project using your areas of expertise. Include any links to websites or other work.  Applications should be sent to Lorraine Mulligan at lmulligan@staloysius.org  no later than 12 noon on Wednesday 6th June 2018. All candidates should also complete and return the PVG enquiry form with their application available on our website in the vacancies section at https://www.staloysius.org/

The Enterprise Studio: Summer School  23 July – 10th August is now open for applications here

Please note that the Summer School incorporates Modual: Kickstarter as the first two weeks of the programme and the application form is relevant to the whole of the Enterprise Studio: Summer School.

If you missed the presentation about the programme on Friday 4th May, the event was filmed and this will be available soon!

There are only 15 places for GSA students/graduates so we look forward to receiving your application soon!!

BBC Studio: Getting into Media, Production and TV

Julia Bird Talent Manager BBC Scotland will present an overview of careers at the BBC with top tips and advice on working in media and production.

The BBC make a range of programmes from Glasgow, and the majority of Arts content for the BBC including Imagine (BBC1), Front Row (BBC2), and various arts documentaries exploring the lives and works of prolific artists including Roald Dahl, Billy Connolly, Muriel Spark and Angela Carter. Julia looks after Arts, Religion and History. Prior to working for the BBC, Julia was a freelance producer predominantly for Channel 4, working As a with Kirsty Allsopp for a number of years and produced programmes such as Kirstie’s Homemade Home and Fill Your House for Free. She has also worked on Big Brother, Wife Swap and Location, Location, Location.

This is a not to be missed session for anyone interested in a career in media, production and TV

Enterprise Studio: Summer School (incorporating MODUAL:) is a free, three-week long programme open to students or recent graduates from The Glasgow School of Art (GSA), the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (RCS) and University of the Arts London (UAL). The programme is designed to equip you with the digital, entrepreneurial, collaborative and practical skills that will support you in making the transition from student to professional, creative practitioner.
